Development
What is developing around week 5
This early-development phase includes formation of the brain and spinal cord, the beginning of the heart, and the appearance of arm and leg buds. Development is rapid, and exact timing varies.
Your body
Changes you may notice
First-trimester experiences can include fatigue, breast tenderness, nausea, food aversions or cravings, mood changes, constipation, urinary frequency, headache, and heartburn. Some people have few symptoms; symptom intensity does not reliably measure pregnancy health.
Symptoms vary widely. Absence, presence, or intensity of a symptom cannot confirm that a pregnancy is progressing normally.
